LetzGo Insurance policies

Insurance coverage

A comprehensive insurance policy, including liability, is provided during the rental period, except in cases of self-inflicted damage or rule violations.

Liability in case of rule violations

An the event of any rule violations, the responsible party (renter or host) assumes full liability for any resulting damages.

1. Conditions for the Renter

The host must also ensure that these are followed:

  • Vehicles may only be used for legal and personal purposes.
  • Subleasing, commercial use, or participation in motorsport events is strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking, transporting animals without proper carriers, or transporting hazardous materials in the vehicle is prohibited.
  • Renters must inspect the vehicle before use and report any damages via the app.
  • Vehicles must be returned on time, clean, and in good condition. Late returns will result in penalties
  • The renter must be at least 21 years old and/or have held a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years.
  • It is strictly forbidden to rent out the vehicle to any other person or company!
  • The renter must always be the main driver. The ID used during registration, as well as the driver’s license and payment method, must all be in the name of the renter.
  • Cars may only be driven outside Luxembourg within the radius defined by our service. If this is not respected, the Letzgo Carsharing Service Center must be contacted immediately. The vehicle will be immobilized, and the renter will be contacted by us immediately (app feature to warn the host), in order to prevent a potential theft.
  • The vehicle may only be used for private purposes. Any commercial or political use with Letzgo vehicles is not permitted.
  • Driven Mobility Solutions Sàrl is not liable for missed rentals for any reason, whether self-inflicted or due to third parties. Rentals not canceled in time will be charged according to Respect Fees.
  • Your car may not be used for commercial passenger transport.
  • It is not permitted to attach any objects to the outside of the vehicle.
  • If you wish to transport animals, you must receive approval from the host. You must also ensure the vehicle is fully aired out and clean upon return.
  • Letzgo Carsharing insurance is active from the moment the renter unlocks the vehicle until it is locked again and left in a safe condition. In other words, our insurance is only valid during the reserved rental time.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all Letzgo Carsharing vehicles.
  • Any motorsport-related activities or driving instruction sessions are strictly prohibited.
  • Flammable or otherwise dangerous or harmful substances must not be transported on board.
  • Luxembourgish law and traffic code always apply.
  • We are not liable for any objects or animals brought into the vehicle by the renter.
  • Any substances such as drugs, alcohol, or others that impair sobriety are strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate contract termination and complete exclusion from insurance coverage in the event of any incident.
  • The deductible coverage will be fully voided, and the customer is fully liable for all resulting damages and costs.
  • The deductible does not apply in the following cases:

    • Non-compliance with vehicle instructions or manufacturer guidelines

    • Violation of applicable Luxembourgish laws

    • Violation of our General Terms and Conditions
  • Driven Mobility Solutions Sàrl and the host cannot be held liable in any case if the renter does not comply with the stated conditions.
  • We are not liable for lost or forgotten items during the entire rental period.

If any of these rules are violated, “Respect” fees may be applied to the renter. In addition, our insurance may deny coverage and/or pursue legal action against the renter.

2. Conditions for the Host

The insurance coverage may be void if:

  • The host fails to correctly verify the renter’s documents as outlined in the rental contract
  • The host makes false claims to the insurance (e.g., reporting damage that did not occur during a rental). Thanks to our software data, we can always prove what happened during a rental (sensor data, trip logs, photo evidence, etc.)
  • The host fails to report an incident within 5 working days
  • The host signs an unofficial rental agreement with the renter
  • The host does not have their own insurance on the vehicle
  • The vehicle does not meet the technical inspection requirements of the country where it is registered
  • The host accepts full or partial payment outside of Letzgo Carsharing
  • The host agrees to a rental extension without reporting it to Letzgo Carsharing

We recommend contacting your insurance company before registering your vehicle with Letzgo Carsharing to confirm that your policy allows carsharing. If an incident occurs during a rental, our comprehensive insurance will cover the damage.

3. Managing your private insurance when renting out a vehicle through LetzGo Carsharing

With our carsharing insurance, you, your vehicle, and any involved third parties are fully insured. Our towing/mobility protection is also always included.

We recommend informing your private insurance provider that you are sharing your vehicle via Letzgo Carsharing. This ensures that your provider allows such use and helps prevent potential issues in advance.
If any event occurs during one of your rentals, you are always fully covered by our comprehensive insurance.

You may not cancel your private insurance, even if you only use your vehicle for rentals!
Your insurance certificate and all other documents (technical inspection, registration papers, etc.) must always be available in the vehicle, e.g., in case of a police check.

You cannot opt out of our insurance, even if your own insurance allows sub-rental. Otherwise, you are not allowed to rent your vehicle through Letzgo Carsharing. Our insurance is automatically activated for each rental.

4. What if my current insurance policy has a mileage limit?

No problem – just make sure your rentals don’t cause you to exceed that limit during the year.
However, check with your insurance or leasing provider in advance to avoid complications!
If your provider forbids rentals via Letzgo Carsharing and you rent out your vehicle anyway, we are not responsible for any disputes or issues with your provider.
